Microsoft hat im Laufe des gestrigen Abends die Verfügbarkeit der stabilen Version 112 von Microsoft Edge für Windows, macOS und Linux angekündigt. Das Update enthält eine Reihe von Neuerungen, Korrekturen sowie Stabilitäts- und Leistungsverbesserungen, um den Microsoft Edge sicherer und zuverlässiger zu machen und wird in den nächsten Tagen und Wochen in den Stable Channel für Windows, macOS und Linux automatisch verteilt. Mit diesem Update schließt Microsoft auch 17 Sicherheitslücken in ältere Versionen von Microsoft Edge, darunter befinden sich mit CVE-2023-24935, CVE-2023-28284 und CVE-2023-28301 auch drei Edge-spezifische Updates. Der Zugriff auf die Details bleibt wie immer eingeschränkt, bis die Mehrheit der Nutzer mit diesem Update versorgt wurde. Für den Stable-Kanal erfolgt das Rollout von Updates progressiv über einen oder mehrere Tage. Nutzer, die eine ältere Version von Edge installiert haben, erhalten das Update automatisch. Wer nicht so lange warten möchte, kann das Update manuell anstoßen: Öffne Edge und klicke rechts oben im Fenster auf die Schaltfläche mit den drei Punkten › Klicke auf Hilfe und Feedback und dann auf Infos zu Microsoft Edge › Während dieses Dialogfeld geöffnet ist, sucht Edge nach Updates › Falls ein Update verfügbar ist, klicke auf Neu starten, um es durchzuführen. Notfalls kann das Update auch über die offizielle Webseite geladen werden.

- Added features for web app policy: The WebAppInstallForceList policy lets administrators configure a list of web apps that install silently, without user interaction, and which users can’t uninstall or turn off. This policy now supports custom_name, which permanently overrides the app name of installed apps and custom_icon, which permanently overrides the app icon of installed apps.
- In-browser JSON viewer: Improvements to how JSON files are displayed in the browser, which includes a color-coded tree view with line numbers and the ability to collapse and expand the data. This functionality will trigger automatically when the browser navigates to a JSON file on the web or the user opens a local one. Additional features and enhancements will roll out as available. - Updated new tab page policy: The NewTabPageHideDefaultTopSites policy hides the default top sites from the new tab page in Microsoft Edge. Starting on March 20th, when the policy is enabled it will also remove sponsored quick links from the new tab page.
