Firefox 31 für Desktop ist ab sofort erhältlich

Mozilla hat im Laufe des heutigen Tages den eigenen Open-Source-Web-Browser für Windows, Mac und Linux in der neuen Version 31 veröffentlicht und zum Download freigegeben. Dieses Update beinhaltet viele Neuerungen, Verbesserungen und Fehlerbehebungen. Die Version 31 des Web-Browsers wird bereits über die interne Updatefunktion ausgeliefert. Wer dies nicht möchte, kann die Version 31 auch über die die offizielle Webseite herunterladen.

Die neue Version von Firefox für Windows, macOS und Linux kann ab sofort geladen werden:

  • New – mozilla::pkix as default certificate verifier (learn more)

  • New – Support of Prefer:Safe http header for parental control.
  • New – audio/video .ogg and .pdf files handled by Firefox if no application specified (Windows only)
  • New – Upper Sorbian [hsb] locale added
  • Changed – Removal of the CAPS infrastructure for specifying site-specific permissions (via capability.policy.* preferences). Most notably, attempts to use this functionality to grant access to the clipboard will no longer work. The sole exception is the checkloaduri permission, which may still be used as before to allow sites to load file:// URIs.
  • HTML5 – WebVTT implemented and enabled (learn more)

Bitte beachtet, dass die Installation von Firefox eure existierende Firefox Version überschreibt. Weder eure Lesezeichen noch die Chronik gehen dabei verloren. Jedoch könnten einige Erweiterungen und andere Add-Ons nicht mehr funktionieren, bis entsprechende Aktualisierungen oder Updates zur Verfügung stehen.
