Microsoft hat im Laufe des gestrigen Abends neben bereits angekündigten außerplanmäßigen Updates für den IE 6, 7, 8 und 9 auch ein weiteres Update für Windows 8 und Windows Server 2012 veröffentlicht und zum Download bereitgestellt. Dabei handelt es sich um eine seit August 2012 geschlossene Sicherheitslücke im Flash Player, die Microsoft erst kurz vor dem offiziellen Release von Windows 8, also um den 26. Oktober herum, schließen wollte.

Auch wenn der Softwarekonzern im Microsoft Security Advisory (2755801) die immer noch im Umlauf befindlichen Betriebssysteme Windows 8 Release Preview und Windows Server 2012 Release Candidate nicht extra erwähnt, so stehen auch für die o. g. Versionen Updates zum Download zur Verfügung da sie von der obengenannten Sicherheitslücke genauso betroffen sind.
